Expectations for 9th grade students

PSAT 8/9 Information

Benefits:

The PSAT 8/9 establishes a baseline measurement of your college and career readiness as you enter high school. It also gives you a preview to the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 10.

Components and Content:
  • Reading test
  • Writing and Language test
  • Math test
  •  The PSAT 8/9 will also help students apply reading, writing, language, and math knowledge to answer questions in science, history, and social studies contexts.
  • PSAT 8/9 includes a range from challenging texts and informational graphics that address these issues in the Reading and Writing section and the Math section.
  •  Questions will require students to read and understand texts, revise texts to be consistent with the data presented in graphics.
  • There is NO penalty for guessing. So go ahead and give your best answer to every question! There’s really no advantage to leaving them blank.
